Tom Vu, born in Vietnam in 1957, is a professional real estate investor and motivational speaker. He gained fame in the 1980s and 1990s for his late-night infomercials promoting his "Quick Start Real Estate" program, in which he claimed to teach people how to make money through real estate investing with his own proven techniques.
Vu's infomercials often featured him showcasing his lavish lifestyle, which he claimed was a result of his real estate success. He encouraged viewers to attend his free seminars, where he would further sell his program and courses.
In the early 2000s, Vu faced legal troubles and was indicted on charges of fraud and conspiracy related to his real estate seminars. He pleaded guilty to the charges in 2005 and was sentenced to 22 months in federal prison.
Since his release from prison, Vu has largely stayed out of the public eye. Despite his controversial past, he was a pioneer in the real estate infomercial industry and inspired many people to pursue real estate investing.
